London Stansted is the third largest airport serving the London area, after Heathrow and Gatwick.

Located in the Essex district of Uttlesford, Stansted is about 48 km north-east of central London.

How to get to London Stansted

Car
The airport is situated just off the M11 motorway, with drivers advised to use Junction 8a if approaching from London or Junction 8 when arriving from the Cambridge side.
 
Stansted offers a variety of long-stay, mid-stay and short-stay parking options, with free courtesy coaches to take passengers to the terminal building.
 
Train
There is also a rail station directly below the terminal building and regular train services connect Stansted with London, eastern England and the Midlands.
 
For people travelling by train from central London, the Stansted Express runs every 15 minutes from Liverpool Street station and takes just 46 minutes to reach the airport.
 
Coach
There are also a number of regular bus and coach services linking the airport with London and other major cities.

The airport

Stansted has a single terminal, with the check-in area located on the ground floor. Airlines based at the airport for people catching cheap flights to Barcelona and other popular destinations include easyJet, Ryanair, Pegasus Airlines, Air Berlin and bmi baby.
 
Inside the terminal building, passengers will find 35 shops and a range of restaurants, cafes and bars.
 
The airport's shopping options include Accessorize, All Saints, Boots, Clarks, HMV, Kurt Geiger and Monsoon. There are also branches of famous toy store Hamleys and designer brand Mulberry.
 
For those seeking a bite to eat or a drink before takeoff, the facilities range from popular fast food outlets such as Burger King and Pret A Manger to more relaxed drinking establishments like the Est Bar and Italian dining at Ponti's. 
 
Passengers can enjoy freshly baked crepes from Crepeaffaire and doughnuts from Krispy Kreme.

Wi-Fi services provided by the Boingo network are available to passengers throughout the airport building, while internet kiosks can be found both before and after passing through security control.
 
People looking to relax before their flight can book into one of the airport's two No 1 Traveller lounges, which are located at Gate 16 and Gate 49. They offer a selection of complimentary drinks, TV, magazines and newspapers, Wi-Fi access and panoramic views of the runway.

The Holiday Inn Express is located within five minutes of the terminal building and can be accessed by shuttle bus. It offers 254 rooms with secure parking and a bar/restaurant.
 
Alternatively, the Hilton London Stansted Airport is six minutes away from the terminal and includes an indoor pool, gym and restaurant.
