London Stansted Airport – travel guide

London Stansted is the third largest airport serving the London area, after Heathrow and Gatwick.

Located in the Essex district of Uttlesford, Stansted is about 48 km north-east of central London.

How to get to London Stansted

Car

The airport is situated just off the M11 motorway, with drivers advised to use Junction 8a if approaching from London or Junction 8 when arriving from the Cambridge side.

Stansted offers a variety of long-stay, mid-stay and short-stay parking options, with free courtesy coaches to take passengers to the terminal building.

Train

There is also a rail station directly below the terminal building and regular train services connect Stansted with London, eastern England and the Midlands.

For people traveling by train from central London, the Stansted Express runs every 15 minutes from Liverpool Street station and takes just 46 minutes to reach the airport.

Coach

There are also a number of regular bus and coach services linking the airport with London and other major cities.

Stansted Airport – good to know

Stansted has a single terminal, with the check-in area located on the ground floor. Airlines based at the airport for people catching cheap flights to Barcelona and other popular destinations include easyJet, Ryanair, Jet2 and Turkish Airlines.
